The Market Company: Who We Are

The Market Company, Inc., began its South Florida special events and farmers market productions with the Lincoln Road Farmers Market in January 1997. Since then, The Market Company has expanded to include a variety of weekend and seasonal outdoor fresh farmer's markets across South Florida, as well as the all new Wynwood Fresh Market. The Wynwood Fresh Market, at 4127 NW 2nd Avenue, MIami, is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Catering to local chefs and connoisseurs of all types, The Wynwood Fresh Market features all locally grown and organic produce; herbs; fresh mozzarella, ricotta and barrata; local honey; fresh goat chees and goat milk ice cream; and wonderful fresh prepared foods.

The Market Company principal, Claire Tomlin, brought The Market Company's first outdoor fresh market to Mimai in 1995 when she coordinated programs for the Lincoln Road Partnership and helped to create the Lincolon Road Farmers Market. Today, the Lincoln Road Farmers Market, featuring an Organic Market in front of the Lincoln Theatre at Lincoln Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, is a weekly Miami Beach institution with over 50 vendors who offer their products, every Sunday, to residents and visitors alike.

In the winter of 1998, the Normandy Village Marketplace was developed at Rue Vendome, Normandy Drive, and 71st Street in Miami Beach’s “North Beach.” The Normandy Village Marketplace presents cultural arts and an eclectic mix of vendors representing the ethnic and cultural diversity of the neighborhood. This farmers market takes place every Saturday. The merchants of the village find this farmers market to be a great asset to their businesses and the marketplace has become a great community happening.

In the winter of 2001, Aventura Mall invited The Market Company to produce an indoor flower and plant sale in one of its prime locations – around the fountain at the Bloomingdale’s entrance. This highly successful event has been increased from once a month to several times a month and is a delight to both shoppers and merchants who enjoy the seasonal offerings.

Established in 2006, the Las Olas Outdoor Gourmet Market, on famed Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, attracts hundreds of weekend shoppers who stroll the street every Sunday and shop for freshly baked bread, tropical fruits, delicious ethnic treats (i.e., hummus and Italian gourmet products), honey, fresh cut flowers and plants.

In January 2008, The Market Company incorporated the newest addition to its line-up of street markets with The Upper East Side Green Market, N.E. 66th Street and Biscayne Boulevard, Miami (right in front of Legion Park, with plenty of parking available nearby). This seasonal Saturday market brings to the area some of the fresh fruit and vegetables, plants and flowers and tasty treats that have delighted shoppers at all The Market Company’s endeavors throughout South Florida.

Beginning in November, 2008, The Market Company expanded to Surfside and Pinecrest with the Pinecrest Gardner's Farmer's Market (SW 124th St., just east of U.S. 1 in Pinecrest; every Sunday, 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. through April, 2009) and the Surfside Marketplace (95th and Collins, Surfside; every Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through April, 2009). Both of these green markets carry on The Market Company tradition, with numerous vendors selling loads of farm fresh fruits and vegetables, specialty local foods, plants, cut flowers, arts and crafts, and antiques & collectibles.
