The
Market Company, Inc. began its South Florida special events
productions with the Lincoln Road Farmers Market in January
1997. For two years prior to that time the company principal,
Claire Tomlin, coordinated programs for the Lincoln Road
Partnership that had created the market. The Lincoln Road
Farmers Market is a Miami Beach institution and occurs every
Sunday with over 50 vendors.
In
the winter of 1998, the Normandy Village Marketplace was
developed at Rue Vendome, Normandy Drive, and 71st Street
in Miami Beach’s “North Beach.” The Normandy Village Marketplace
presents cultural arts and an eclectic mix of vendors representing
the ethnic and cultural diversity of the neighborhood. This
market takes place Saturdays and includes music during the
winter season. The merchants of the village find this market
to be a great asset to their businesses and the marketplace
has become a great community happening.
In
November 1999, The Market Company developed the Española
Way Weekend Festival in South Beach’s Historic Spanish Village.
This event runs Friday through Sunday nights, programmed
with vendors, artsits and music. Saturday and Sunday the
event features a variety of vendors selling flowers, plants,
and crafts. With the completion of the Plaza de España,
the venue size more than doubled and Española Way has evolved,
once again, into a major cultural venue here in the heart
of South Beach.
In
the winter of 2001 Aventura Mall invited The Market Company
to produce an indoor flower and plant sale in one of its
prime locations – around the fountain at the Bloomingdale’s
entrance. This highly successful event has been increased
from once a month to several times a month and is a delight
to both shoppers and merchants.
The
Market Company is located at 428 Española Way, and is currently
planning several new venues and specialty markets.
